Brazil set to boost ethanol blending to 32%

In Brazil, O Globo reports President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Thursday that the government will announce an increase in the mandatory mixture of anhydrous ethanol in gasoline from 30% to 32%. According to him, there will still be an increase in the blend of biodiesel in diesel from 15% to 16%.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy had already informed that a proposal for an increase would be appreciated at the next meeting of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), scheduled for May 7. According to the portfolio, the measure is part of the government’s strategy to reduce dependence on imported fuels.
