Dutch architect ORGA designs 76% biobased homes
In the Netherlands, architecture firm ORGA has designed a carbon-negative rental home complex for the village of Marknesse using a number of biobased building materials.
Commissioned by property developer Mercatus, ORGA designed twelve low-income homes with timber frames and wood fiber as insulation.
According to Arch Daily, approximately 76% of the raw materials are renewable and circular. “Only the foundations are made of concrete, while the entire above-ground structure is composed primarily of natural materials, aside from essential components such as glass and fasteners,” according to the publication.
